A Snapshot about VITEEE

      VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam) is the entrance exam you need to clear in order to admission to B.Tech programmes at VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology). Programmes at VIT are accredited by National and International agencies such as NBA, NAAC, IET (UK), Energy Institute (UK). B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering programmes offered at Vellore campus are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering is accredited by Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET III Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202 – 4012, USA. In 2011, more than 1.5 lakh students appeared for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE).

VITEEE OVERVIEW
        
VITEEE is a two & a half hours long exam having 4 parts:
1.    Physics
2.    Chemistry
3.    Mathematics
4.    Biology
If you have applied for engineering then you should attempt Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics papers but if you have opted for bio-medical engineering courses then you should attempt Physics, Chemistry & Biology. The questions are objective-type. Every part would consist of 40 questions and every question would be of 1 mark. There will not be any negative marking. Questions are based on State Board of Higher Secondary school and CBSE syllabi only. Please not that you can only attempt 3 papers out of the 4.  And if you do attempt all 4 parts, then only the first 3 parts will be evaluated.

Eligibility You should be a resident/non-resident Indian national.
2.) You should either have qualified either of these exams or should be appearing in it this year.
  • The final exam of class 10+2 of higher secondary of state board or central board of secondary examination, ICSE board of New Delhi.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

3.) You should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/Biology (PCM / PCB). Candidates who belong to SC/ST and students coming from Jammu & Kashmir & from the North Eastern States of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh should have secured 50% of marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/ Biology (PCM / PCB). PCM candidates are eligible for all the programs offered by VIT education board but the candidates having PCB are eligible only for B.Tech Bioinformatics, Biotechnology & Biomedical Engineering programs.
 Age Limit
You should not be more than 22 years of age when you apply for VITEEE. The date of birth as recorded your High School / SSC / X Certificate will be considered authentic. You should produce this certificate in original as a proof of your age at the time of counselling, failing which you can be disqualified.
Foreign Candidates: 

If you are a foreign candidate, you should have completed 12 years of schooling (Equivalent to  the 10+2 system of Indian Education).

  • Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) candidates are eligible for all the VIT degree courses or programmes.

  • Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) candidates are eligible only for B.Tech. Bioinformatics, Biotechnology & Biomedical Engineering programmes.


The following examinations/boards are considered equivalent to the 10+2 system of Indian Education. They should also produce equivalent marks for the corresponding grades.

  • GCE Examination of UK with Higher grades in five subjects at the Ordinary level ('O' level) and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology at the Advanced level ('A' level).

  • High School Certificate Examination, University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, UK.

  • International Baccalaureate Examination of Geneva.

  • High School Graduation from accredited institutions of USA.

  • 12 years High School - Grade 12 pass from the accredited institutions of Canada.

  • 12 years High School Graduation / Diploma / Certificate of an approved Board Schools of China, Thailand, Indonesia, Bhutan, Syria, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Gulf Countries.

  • 12 years Secondary Stage qualifications of National Examination Board / Council of Ministry of Education of Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania Uganda and Rwanda.

  • High School Certificate (HSC) and Cambridge School Certificate ('A' level) from the accredited institutions of Mauritius
How To Prepare VITEEE mostly has questions based on the NCERT/ state syllabus for 11th and 12th class. If you feel you need coaching, join any reputed coaching centre after discussing the same with your peers & seniors. Another option is to refer to good books like Arihant, H.C Verma, R.S Aggarwal, Dinesh Chemistry, Pradeep’s Biology etc. Once you clear your concepts start solving as many sample papers as possible.   2. i m currently in 12th and wish to sit in vit entrance exam next year. i need sample question papers for practice but i m unable to get one online. can anyone please advice me a site from which i get help.
